No one should have to choose between
feeding their pets…
or feeding themselves.
At Halo Café, our mission is to help families keep the promise they made to their pets to love and care for them forever by providing pet food to those who cannot afford it on their own.
We exist to reduce shelter intake of wanted pets, to educate families on the importance of spay and neuter and to keep established companion animals where they belong - at home - by providing pet food and resources to low income, homeless and elderly community members in need.

Board of Directors
Meet the dedicated animal advocates of Halo Cafe

Founder
In 2011, Jennifer Quinn-Yovino and her husband Jim Yovino founded Halo Cafe Inc., recognizing the critical need for local animal welfare support, community pet services, and assistance for individuals facing food insecurity. This initiative was designed to help prevent these individuals from having to surrender their pets to a kill-shelter. Since its inception, she has cultivated a thriving nonprofit that has provided invaluable services, including a pet food pantry, assisting hundreds of individuals over the years.

Executive Director
Thalia Arenas is a former animal shelter Humane Educator and the current owner of a wedding venue. With skills in ministry, notary work, and volunteer management, combined with her entrepreneurial mindset and strong advocacy for animal welfare support, she now manages Halo Cafe. Her objective is to enhance the pantry and expand Halo's assistance in the community.

Vice President & Spay/Neuter Liaison
Colleen Cabral, is the founder of Foster Paws, an organization committed to animal welfare. Her experience and initiatives have supported Halo's spay/neuter program. She manages the spay/neuter appointments and ensures Halo clients receive this vital service for their pets.

Treasurer/Accountant
Yani Lopez has a strong passion for organization, accuracy, and service. She oversees and manages the finances, helping ensure that every donation and resource is handled with care and transparency. Her dedication and expertise plays an important role in supporting the mission to serve pets and people in need.

Social Media Manager
Jika Arteaga manages media platforms, networks within the community, and creates engaging content to increase awareness and visibility for Halo Cafe. Jika's passion for animals began when she started fostering. Through her photography business, she first became involved with Halo to help with pet photos, then continued to find meaningful ways to support the mission.

Grant Writer
Lisa Modenbach is passionate about helping both people and animals. She began her journey with Halo Cafe as a dedicated volunteer, consistently showing up to help at the monthly pet food pantries. As she became more involved, Lisa recognized that she could make an even greater impact by using her incredible writing skills to help the organization pursue grant opportunities.
Our Legacy of Care
It all began in 2011 with a simple observation: pets were being surrendered to shelters not because of a lack of love, but due to a lack of resources. In the heart of Fresno, a small group of volunteers decided to change that narrative.
What started as a few bags of kibble in a garage has blossomed into the Halo Cafe Pet Food Pantry. Today, we stand as a beacon of hope, providing food, supplies, and spay/neuter assistance to hundreds of people.
